Hops at the Paddock: Reviews & Ratings

I came here with a large group of people who live nearby and come fairly regularly. We all ordered a variety of things and we had a good time. I'm surprised the star rating for this place isn't higher. The only complaint I could make is that the people in the group were finishing their food as others were only just being served, but that's because this place is popular and busy.

Always consistent, with just enough pub fare variety. Environment isn't the best acoustically, definitely loud. Not the best if you're looking for casual conversation

Hops at the Paddock is a bar & grill located on W Colombia St. in Allentown. They are open Sun - Thu 11AM - 11PM (kitchen closes at 9PM) and Fri - Sat 11AM - 2AM (kitchen closes at 10PM). I've been here a handful of times over the past decade and never had a bad experience. The food and service are consistently good. My most recent visit was on Friday October 25th. I stopped in with some friends and family and everyone enjoyed themselves. I ordered mozzarella moons, homemade pierogies, and one of their weekend specials; grilled cheese and pumpkin tomato soup. Everything was wonderful! I definitely recommend adding the Cajun crab and brown butter to the pierogies. Indoor and outdoor seating are both available. There is no delivery, but they do offer takeout. Mozzarella Moons - 7.6 Sautéed Homemade Pierogies w/ Cajun Crab & Brown Butter - 8.2 Grilled Cheese & Pumpkin Tomato Soup - 8.3 Food - 8.0 Service - 8.2 Value - 8.1 Restaurant score - 81

The bar pies are incredible but the wings are the star of the show! An absolute must try in the valley

Visited on 31/24. Food was outstanding. Best wings in the valley in my book. Pizza was great! Pirogies with brown butter and crab meat were awesome. French dip was very good. Server was top notch.

4/15/2022 Blackened sea bass tacos should have been served with lemon because they were fishy. Cole slaw was pretty good, onion rings very good. Friend enjoyed medium rare cheeseburger with caramelized onions, swiss cheese and sweet potato tots. Restaurant looked different because they rearranged everything and cleaned. 6/8/2022 French Onion soup just out of oven was very hot and good. Let it cool for five minutes before eating. Crab cakes not served warm enough, were returned to kitchen for reheating. Main problem with crab cakes was they were too fishy, even squeezing fresh lemon in them didn't help. Sweet potato tots were okay, housemade cole slaw had too much sweet dressing added. Really struggled to get through this meal, should have returned it for something else. My table was cleared including unsigned receipt and leftover box when I got up to go to restroom. I understand people were waiting for tables, but you don't clear table until customer's credit/debit card transaction is processed and signed. There was an empty table they could have sat party at instead. Ignorant employees don't know any better.

Let me just start by saying this: I don't know. A lot of funny as hell hatchet job reviews for this place. I think some people need to get their expectations a bit more in line with reality. At the end of the day this is basically a glorified dive bar that serves bar food. It's not fine dining, it's not a bistro and it's not a gastro pub. This place to me has always been about as old school as it gets. Before the ownership change a decade ago it was a hole in the wall where your grandparents and great-grandparents went to get their Friday night HIghballs and have some thin crust pizza. To me it's all about keeping it simple. Stick to some apps, chili, burgers, sandwiches and of course the original Paddock Pizza and you'll be fine. Eat in and don't do takeout and things will be even better. Overall I've never had an issue with anything going on here whether it was with the old owners 30+ years ago or coming in for lunch last week. Good food, fair prices and decent service. What more could do want?
